Dr. Linh Johansson, Industrial PhD student for 4 years at BBT, in collaboration with the company Mimetis Biomaterials, defends her Doctoral thesis at EEBE.

Dr. Jordi Guillem-Martí, María Zambrano researcher at BBT, has just returned from a research stay at Hinck's lab at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), to carry on his project "Structural characterization of computationally designed mini protein binders against BMP receptors".

BBT researcher Maria Godoy Gallardo has been awarded the L'Oréal-UNESCO 'For women in science' prize in its 2023-2024 edition, thanks to her project to develop smart biomaterials to enhance tissue integration and its antibacterial properties.

Dr. Marta Pegueroles is currently on a 3-months research stay at the Harvard-MIT Biomedical Engineering Center (Edelman's lab) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston (US).

Dr. Diego Pallarola (INS-UNSAM, Argentina) is carrying out a one-month research stay in our laboratories, thanks to the MSCA-RISE BioTUNE project, led by Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno. During his stay, Dr. Pallarola has offered a talk about his research to all members of the group.

PhD student Carla Arca, co-directed by Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra and Dr. María Godoy-Gallardo, wins the Student Speech Contest of the LIX Congreso Nacional de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio (SECV 2024), held in Zaragoza from June 11th to 14th, 2024.

Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra received SOCIEMAT & ACerS Spanish Chapter's Premio Nacional a la Trayectoria Científica en Materiales Cerámicos y Vítreos, during yesterday's inauguration of the XVII National Materials Congress - CNMAT24 in Málaga (Spain).

Dr. David Piñera defended his doctoral thesis "Development of antibacterial, antiresorptive and osteogenic gallium and silver doped titanium implants", co-directed by Prof. José María Manero and Dr. Judit Buxadera, on July 5th, 2024, at EEBE, before an international jury.

Dr. Anna Díez-Escudero has been busy in recent months with activities to disseminate her research in 3D printing and biomaterials for bone regeneration. In May, at I Jornada Personal Científico Joven CIBER, in June at IV Bioimpresión 3D: tecnología emergente en la frontera entre la biomedicina y la ingeniería course and in July at the Share & Connect Event on 3D Printing and Biomaterials.

Dr. Maria-Pau Ginebra, Scientific Director of the Center for Research in Science and Multiscale Engineering of Barcelona (CCEM) of the UPC, received the accreditation as Unidad de Excelencia María de Maeztu awarded by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades through Agencia Estatal de Investigación, from the hands of the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant.
