Introduction

The Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Research Group of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (CEM) of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) is a Consolidated Research Group by the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE).

The BBT belongs to the Barcelona Research Center in Multiscale Science and Engineering (CCEM), to the Biomedical Engineering Research Centre (CREB) and the UPC Innovation and Technology Center (CIT-UPC) de la UPC, both of them members of TECNIO.

The group is also part of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Bioingeniería, Biomateriales y Nanomedicina (CIBER-BBN)  at Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and of Institut de Recerca Sant Joan de Déu (IRSJD).

The BBT's Scientific Director, Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra, ICREA Acadèmia Prize by the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) to excellence in research in four consecutive editions (2008, 2013, 2018 and 2023), is also an Associated Researcher to the de Institut for Bioengineering of catalonia (IBEC).
