PhD student Patricia López offered a workshop on "Biomaterials for bone tissue regeneration" at the 16ª Festa de la Ciència, organized by Ajuntament de Barcelona on June 10-11th, 2023.

On July, 7th, the BBT Research Group had the opportunity to enjoy an online Multiplier Event of the Respo-X application, where they got to know about the app first hand by project leader Aleksander Zidanšek.

Foundation Jané Mateu has granted a research grant to Dr. José Manuel García for the development of multifunctional membranes as intelligent conformable biosensors for non-invasive clinical monitoring.

Dr. Xavi Solé Martí, PhD student at BBT with funding from the ERC APACHE project and FI-Agaur, presented his doctoral thesis on the "Effects of cold atmospheric plasmas on biomaterials: hydrogels and composites with calcium phosphates", co-directed by Dra. Cristina Canal and Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra.

AMES Group and the BBT have agreed to renew the collaboration agreement to give continuity to the AMES-UPC Chair in design and innovation in new biomaterials.

Dr. José Manuel García-Torres has received funding from Agencia Estatal de Investigación(AEI)'s Consolidación investigadora 2022 call for the Consolidation of his research career with the project "NAMASTE: Nanoengineered magnetoelectric 3D hydrogels with built -in soft electronics for bioengineering applications".

Linh Johansson, Industrial PhD student in collaboration with Mimetis Biomaterials, has been the winner of the Premis Impacte 2022 de Doctorats Industrials, in the Impact on Society Category, with her work on "3D printed personalized bone grafts - Combined benefits in terms of cost, patient, comfort and recovery".

“Redefining biomaterial biocompatibility: challenges for artificial intelligence and text mining” is a new article, published in Trends on Biotechnology by Dr. Miguel Mateu-Sanz, PhD student Carla V. Fuenteslópez, Dr. Juan Uribe-Gomez, Prof. Håvard Jostein Haugen, Prof. Abhay Pandit, Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra, Dr. Osnat Hakimi, Dr. Martin Krallinger and Dr. Athina Samara, all of them members of the BIOMATDB Project, discussing the need for a new definition of biocompatibility and the challenges in developing one that allows for data mining approaches.

Last November 24th, on the occasion of Entrepreneurial Women's Day, Xartec Salut organized a round table on the topic "Why is entrepreneurship worthwhile? Keys for starting a business in HealthTech", with the participation of Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra, together with three other scientist women and entrepreneurships.
