Lluís Oliver, PhD student at BBT, won the prize awarded by the public at the interuniversity final of the Present your thesis in 4 minutes competition, held on the 22nd June, 2021.

Dr. Joaquim Minguela presented his Doctoral thesis in Materials Science, the first directed in collaboration by the BBT and CIEFMA research groups, both based at the EEBE, with a grant from the Barcelona Research Center in Multiscale Science and Engineering.

Several members of the BBT group participated in the 31st Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2021) with a keynote reading, 5 oral presentations and 1 poster.

Dr. Santiago Raymond, who has completed an industrial doctorate with the BBT and Mimetis Biomaterials, presents his doctoral thesis at EEBE.

Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra was one of the speakers at the Session "Europe and Innovation: The Future is Woman" of the Trieste Next festival of scientific research, on September 25th, in Italy.

Joanna Konka and Diego Torres, members of the BBT research group, presented their Doctoral thesis in Bioengineering and Materials Engineering, respectively, at the EBBE on October.

BBT PhD student Nerea García de Albéniz is one of the finalists for the SocieMat award for Best TFM in Materials Science, in the 2021 edition, with her TFM on "Laser-assisted surface modification of zirconia-based materials to enhance osteoblast response for dental applications ".

Once again, UPC leads the ranking of industrial doctoral projects in Catalonia, with 27 projects (out of 96) developed in 2020, including that of PhD student Linh Johansson, led by BBT and the company Mimetis Biomaterials.

Miguel Mateu, PhD student in the ERC APACHE project under the direction of Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Juan Tornín, presented his doctoral thesis in a video during the III Scientific Conference of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD) and received the First Prize.

Consellera of Research and Universities, Gemma Geis, paid an institutional visit to the Manresa and Diagonal-Besòs campuses of the UPC on October, 28th. During the visit, she was able to get to know the teaching, research and technology transfer activity of the BBT, among other research groups.
