The Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD), the only research center in Catalonia focused on research in pediatric medicine, has been recognized as a CERCA center. This recognition involves the development of frontier research for a higher scientific and economic impact and the improvement of social and individual well-being. The BBT is part of the IRSJD through the CREB-UPC, of which it is a member.
During the the 11th World Biomaterials Congress, held in online format from 11th to 15th December 2020, BBT members have been Chairs of Workshops and Symposiums and have contributed with 5 oral talks and 3 posters.
The Agència per a la Qualitat de Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya) has so far evaluated 22 of the 48 doctoral programs at the UPC and has given the highest rating to nine, among which is the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering.
EEBE published a video for the promotion of the Diagonal-Besòs Campus, with the participation of several members of the BBT, among many other students, teachers and staff of the School.
The Catalan Territorial Section (ST-Cat) of the Real Sociedad Española de Química (RSEQ) has awarded Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno, Ramón y Cajal Fellow at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and member of the BBT, the Marcial Moreno-Mañas Award 2020 for young researchers.
Dr. Èlia Vidal, member of BBT, presented her doctoral thesis within the Materials Science Doctorate Programme, at EEBE.
Dr. Cristina Canal has received the ICREA Acadèmia award 2020 for her outstanding research.
Researchers from 15 CERCA Centers, including Dr. Marta Pegueroles of the BBT, collaborate with the #100tífiques initiative of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI) and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), on the occasion of International Women and Girls' Day in Science.
Dr. Cristina Canal and Dr. Cédric Labay, representatives of the BBT in two reports broadcast on La1's Telediari and La 2's La Metro show, respectively.
Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra gave a lecture in the cycle "UPC Dialogues on New Materials" on Wednesday 28/04 and another on Thursday 29/04 in the cycle "Science Thursday 2021", organized by the Secció de Ciències i Tecnologia of theInstitut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC).
