Dr. Cristina Canal, member of the BBT research group, was the invited speaker at the IBEC Seminar, with a talk on "Cold atmospheric plasma: a novel potential therapy for cancer treatment".

BBT researcher, Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno, has obtained funding from MINECO to carry out the MIMESIS project: Biomimetic multifunctional surfaces: a new biomolecular strategy to control the cellular response in regenerative therapies.

Researcher Maria Pau Ginebra, Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Director of the Research Group in Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering, attended the award ceremony of the EU Prize for Women Innovators 2018, as a finalist.

Last Friday, July 6th, a new area of laboratories and offices of the Center for Research in Biomedical Engineering (CREB) was inaugurated, with a talk and guided visits to the facilities, with researchers and members of the government of the School and the UPC.

Dr. Marta Pegueroles, Dr. Cristina Canal and PhD student Inès Hamouda attended the 4th International Society for Biomedical Polymers and Polymeric Biomaterials (ISBPPB) conference and exposition in Krakow (Poland) as speakers, held on July 15-18, 2018.

Dr. Mireia Hoyos and Joanna Sadowska, both members of the BBT research team, presented their PhD Thesis in Materials Science at the EEBE.

Dr. Osnat Hakimi (MSCA-IF-2016 - Individual Fellowship) and Dr. Laura Catalina Córdoba Román (BEST COFUND IBEC postdoc programme) join the BBT research group as Postdoctoral Fellows for their two year pojects.

BBT has been one of the Consolidated SGR Groups financed in the 2017 Call of the Generalitat to support the activities of the research groups in Catalonia.

Dr. Maria-Pau Ginebra, Director of the spin off Mimetis Biomaterials, ICREA Award of the Generalitat de Catalunya and Director of the Department of Materials Science of the UPC, interviewed in the newspaper Punt Avui.

Dr. Pierre Layrolle (INSERM, University of Nantes) and Dr. Sandra Van Vlierberghe (Universiteit Gent) visited the BBT facilities in EEBE, and gave talks to the members of the research group.
