BBT researchers develop a skin-like hydrogel that releases drugs in a controlled manner using magnetic fields. This system, in addition to being biocompatible and adaptable to different body shapes, opens the door to more effective, less invasive and completely personalized treatments.

Three researchers from the BBT group obtained funding from the beamtime 2025-II call of the ALBA Synchrotron (Cerdanyola del Vallès) to study the hydroxyapatite nanofibers developed with the BioFlex project (AEI).

Dr. Guillem-Marti, along with researchers from the Baker lab (USA) and the Manton lab (UK), has just published a new study in Nature Photonics introducing a new methodology for simultaneously acquiring eight spectral channels from any camera-based fluorescence microscope.

"TiOBA: Titanium Osteointegration and Bacterial Activity" is a project led by Prof. José María Manero and the Technology Transfer division of the BBT, in collaboration with AMES Medical, and funded by Indústria del Coneixement 2025 (AGAUR) call.

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Gobierno de España) has awarded one of the 2025 National Research Prizes to Professor Maria-Pau Ginebra, in the Leonardo Torres Quevedo category, for her work in Engineering and Architecture.

A large delegation of BBT members attended both the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2025), the most prestigious biomaterials congress at an European level, and at the Inaugural Conference of the Spanish Society of Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (SEMIT), held in Torino (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain) in September and October of this year, respectively.

Dr. Nerea García de Albéniz, former PhD student at the BBT, presented her doctoral thesis "Engineering zirconia surfaces with cell instructive and antibacterial properties", co-directed by Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno and Dr. Emilio Jiménez Piqué, on October 13, 2025 at the EEBE.
