Albert Barba and Mireia Hoyos, winners of two Best Oral Presentation Awards in biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine international conferences, 2016 eCM XVII: Stem cells, Bone Fixation, Repair & Regeneration (Davos, Suïssa) and TERMIS 2016: Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society European Meeting (Uppsala, Suècia).

Two BBT's PhD students, Albert Barba and Mireia Hoyos, won two Awards for the Best Oral Presentation for works presented in  biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine international conferences.

On one hand, Albert Barba was awarded with the Robert Mathys Student Award to the Best Oral Presentation in 2016 eCM XVII: Stem cells, Bone Fixation, Repair & Regeneration (Davos, Suïssa), for his work “Biomimetic nanostructured calcium phosphate scaffolds: osteoinduction and osteogenesis", A. Barba, K. Rappe, P. Fontecha, A. Diez-Escudero, Y. Maazouz, M. Espanol, C. Öhman, C. Persson, M.C. Manzanares, J. Franch, M.P. Ginebra.

On the other,  Mireia Hoyos received a 3rd Price for the Best Oral Presentation at TERMIS 2016: Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society European Meeting (Uppsala, Suècia), for her work “Regenerating bone by multifunctional coatings: the blending of cell adhesive and antibacterial properties on the surface of implant biomaterials”. M.Hoyos-Nogués, F.J Gil, C.Mas-Moruno.

Albert Barba, a PhD student in his 2nd year, with a FPU Grant by the MINECO (Ministry of Economy and Competitivity, Gobierno de España), working in his thesis: "Intrinsic osteoinduction and osteogenesis of biomimetic nanostructured calcium phosphate scaffolds", co-directed by Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra and Dr. Jordi Franch (UAB).

Mireia Hoyos,is in the 3rd year of a FI PhD Grant by Generalitat de Catalunya working in a thesis entitled "Novel approaches to improve biological performance of dental implants", co-directed by Dr.Carles Mas-Moruno and Prof. Xavier Gil (UIC).
