The BBT group, member of two AEI-funded Redes de Investigación
May 12, 2025
The Research Group in Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering is part of the team of two Redes de Investigación (Research Networks) projects, a call recently resolved by the AEI: the TEVIMO network, coordinated by Gloria Gallego (University of Valencia) and with Carles Mas-Moruno as a BBT researcher, and the PLASPAIN network, coordinated by Fernando Alba Elías (University of La Rioja) with Cristina Canal as a BBT researcher.
The recent final award of AEI-funded Redes de Investigación (Research Networks) 2024 call has brought good news for the BBT group: the award of two thematic networks in which members of the BBT are part of the research team: TEVIMO and PLASPAIN.
TEVIMO: Tissue engineering approaches for the development of in vitro models of healthy and pathological tissues is a National Network coordinated by Gloria Gallego from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and has BBT researcher Carles Mas-Moruno is part of it.
This multidisciplinary network of 12 leading national research groups, which combine different and complementary skills in scientific areas related to the engineering of biomaterials as functional components of in vitro tissue models, aims to promote communication, discussion and joint activities between all the groups involved and the researchers who are part of it.
The kick-off meeting of the TEVIMO Research Network took place on May 6, in a hybrid format, and was very productive. The first workshop of the network will take place in Valladolid on September 15th 2025, and preparations are already in place for a second workshop, to take place on April 2026 in Barcelona.
PLASPAIN: National Platform for the Promotion of Cold Plasma in the Field of Biomedicine and Agro-Food is coordinated by researcher Fernando Alba Elías, from the University of La Rioja, and a regular collaborator of Dr. Cristina Canal.
The network, formed by 11 national research groups, among which are the most important at a national level in research on cold plasmas and their applications in industry, aims to promote collaboration, coordination and the creation of synergies between these 11 research groups with the aim of consolidating Spain as one of the European leaders in the sector.
