Sílvia Gómez, Doctor in Biomedical Engineering from by UPC

Silvia Gómez presented her doctoral thesis "Surface modification treatments to enhance the performance of titanium backplate in keratoprosthesis", co-directed by Prof. José María Manero and Dr. Rafael I. Barraquer, on May 30th at EEBE.

The thesis received the qualification of excellent, pending the decision of Cum Laude by the members of the jury, which was formed by Dr. Dr. José Luis Gómez Ribelles (UPV), Dr. Juan María Pou Saracho (UVigo),  Dr. Aritza Brizuela Velasco (UniOvi), Dr. Daniel Rodríguez-Rius (UPC) and Dr. José Lamarca  (Clínica barraquer - UAB). 

During the completion of her doctoral thesis, Dr. Gómez enjoyed a 3-month stay (01/05/2023 - 31/07/2023) at the Dipartamento di Area Medica of the Università degli Studi di Udine (UniUd, Italy), under the supervision of Dr. Barbara Skerlavaj, to carry out the microbiological characterization of samples treated with Ti for ophthalmological applications.
