Science, girls, women and referents, a priority for the BBT

February 11th was International Women's Day in Science. For years now, our mission at BBT has been to spread science among the youth of our country, in order to provide references for future scientists. This year couldn’t be any different.

February 11th was International Women's Day in Science. . According to official data, in the 2021-2022 academic year at UPC, only 30% of the total number of students enrolled are women. There are degrees such as Bioengineering where the numbers are better, and others such as Electrical Engineering where they are radically worse.

At BBT, we have been fighting for years to carry out a continuous dissemination of our research and our scientific activity among the youth, to provide references for future scientists in our country.

In 2022, specifically, Dra. Marta Pegueroles attended the TV Program  Bàsics (betevé), together with Josefina Antonijuan, Vice-Rector for Social Responsibility and Equality at UPC, to discuss and shed some light on new trends in the classroom, as well as the need to generate new female references in the fields of science and technology.
