BBT PhD student Patricia López wins 2nd Prize in the "Present your thesis in 3 minutes" competition, organized by Unite! Doctoral School in the context of the XI Unite! Dialogue, held in Barcelona from February 25th to the 28th, 2025.

Patricia López, a PhD student at the BBT under the supervision of Carles Mas-Moruno, has won II Prize in the "Present your thesis in 3 minutes" competition, organized by Unite! Doctoral School in the context of the XI Unite! Dialogue, which took place in Barcelona (Spain) from the 25th to the 28th of February, 2025.

Patricia did a great job presenting the research carried out within her doctoral thesis, "Multifunctional hydrogels for advanced regenerative therapies", which has been carried out within AEI-funded project "SMARTGEL: Bioactive and multifunctional peptide-based hydrogels obtained by bottom-up self-assembly for advanced biomedical applications".

Her research focuses on the development of multifunctional hydrogels designed to significantly improve treatments in regenerative medicine. These advanced biomaterials not only promote cell adhesion and tissue regeneration, but also incorporate antibacterial properties, a key factor in reducing the risk of infections in clinical applications.

Thanks to an innovative design, these hydrogels have high potential for application in wound healing, tissue repair and the improvement of biomedical implants, offering more effective and safer solutions.
