Patricia López presents her PhD thesis

Patricia López, a student at the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Group (BBT) of the UPC, defended her PhD thesis this past December 11th at the UPC Diagonal Besòs Campus.

Patricia presented her thesis under the title "Multifunctional hydrogels for advanced regenerative therapies," supervised by Dr. Carles Mas-Moruno and Dr. Nabila Mehwish. The examination committee consisted of Prof. Conrado Aparicio (UPC) as President, Dr. Miguel Ángel Mateous (UIC), and Dr. Miguel Ángel Martín-Piedra (University of Granada). The committee rated the thesis as excellent and unanimously decided to award the cum laude distinction to the work carried out by Dr. López.

During her doctorate, she completed a research stay at the Center for Research and Innovation of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Lima, Peru). During her three months in Dr. Pohl Milón's biochemistry and molecular biology laboratory, she received training in phage display to produce new biomolecules with antibacterial potential against S. aureus.
