Maria Pau Ginebra and Cristina Canal, included in the ranking of the most outstanding female scientists published by the CSIC

Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra and Dr. Cristina Canal, both part of the BBT, have been included in the second edition of the ranking of the most outstanding female scientists, recently published by the CSIC. The ranking ranks women scientists who have an h-index equal to or greater than 18.

Last May 23rd, the Consejo Superior d eInvestigaciones Científicas (CSIC) published the second edition of the Ranking of Spanish and foreign female researchers working in Spain, according to public data from Google Scholar.

The ranking ranks women researchers first by their h-index (a measure that takes into account the quantity and quality of citations their scientific articles have received) and, second, by the number of citations they have received. To be included in the ranking, researchers must have an h-index of at least 18.

Of the 8,068 female researchers listed in the ranking, 117 are from the UPC. Among them, Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra (in position 128, the best placed in UPC) and Dr. Cristina Canal (position 2,677).

The aim of the ranking is to increase the visibility of the work carried out by women researchers, and it is part of the policies of commitment to gender equality of the CSIC, the institution to which belongs the Cybermetrics Lab, which has drawn up the ranking.
