Laura del Mazo, PhD in Biomedical Engineering

Dr. Laura del Mazo, FPU grantee by Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) at BBT, has defended her Doctoral thesis at the EEBE.

On March, 11th, Laura del Mazo, PhD student in the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering Group, defended her doctoral thesis at EEBE (UPC).

Dr. del Mazo presented her thesis on "Improving the performance of synthetic and biomimetic 3D-printed bone grafts", directed by Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra.

The Jury was formed by Dr. Caroline Öhman Mägi, President (Uppsala Universitet, Sweden), Dr. Miguel Ángel Mateos (UIC) and Dr. Montserrat Español (UPC), Secretary.

During her doctorate, Dr. del Mazo spent 2 months (March-May 2022) at the Department of Materials Science and Enginering, Biomedical Engineering (Uppsala, Sweden). During this time, she was able to carry out a project "Designing and 3D printing triply periodic minimal surface geometries with porosity gradients as bone grafts, in order to improve their mechanical and biological properties for bone regeneration".
