Dr. Nihal Engin Vrana visits BBT Headquarters and gives a talk

Dr. Nihal Engin Vrana (Protip Medical, Université de Strasbourg, INSERM) visited the BBT's labs on May 16th and gave a very interesting talk on "Personalizing implant/host interface: multifunctional coatings and custom-made biomaterials testing systems".

Dr. Vrana is Vice President of Scientific Affairs in Protip Medical. He holds a B.Sc. (Biology) and a M.Sc. (Biotechnology) from Middle East Technical University and obtained his PhD in 2009 at Dublin City University as a Marie Curie ESR fellow. His major research interests are titanium and silicone implants, tissue engineering, cell encapsulation, immunomodulation, multifunctional coatings, real-time monitoring of implants, biomaterial assessment and cell biomaterials interactions. He has coordinated two EU projects (BiMot and IMMODGEL) and he is currently coordinating the H2020 project PANBioRA. He has published almost 70 peer reviewed articles and 7 book chapters, holds 6 patents and has edited 2 books.
