Doctoral Thesis Scholarship by Caixa Enginyers Foundation for a BBT student

A PhD student of the BBT directed by Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra and Dr. Montserrat Español, winner of the Doctoral Thesis Grant by Fundació Caixa Enginyers in this year's edition.
BBT PhD student Marc Iglesias has received a Doctoral Thesis Grant from Fundació Caixa d’Enginyers to carry on a work on antibacterial surfaces inspired by insect wings.
The jury valued the application of the research in the field of health and its potential to open new frontiers in implants development, preventing infections and promoting bone regeneration. In words of the student, "I am very excited about the award because it recognizes the work and effort of the whole team during this time. It is a very innovative project that has produced promising results, and we hope to continue working on it to address antibiotic resistance."
Iglesias's doctoral thesis, directed by Prof. Maria-Pau Ginebra and Dr. Montserrat Español, is part of the ERC Advanced Grant project, BAMBBI: Bio-inspired AntiMicrobial Bone BIoceramics. Deciphering contact-based biocidal mechanisms, leaded by Prof. Ginebra.
The Associació d'Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya grant establishes a 10,000-euro financial endowment for the student and is supported by Fundació Caixa d'Enginyers.
