Creation of the new AMES GROUP-UPC Chair in Design and Innovation of New Biomaterials

The Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and the AMES GROUP have created the AMES GROUP Chair in design and innovation of new biomaterials, which promotes the training, research, transfer of results and scientific dissemination, in the field of additive manufacturing and metallic biomaterials. The Chair is directed by Dr. José María Manero, Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, and a member of the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) research group, and the team is formed by members of the BBT together with the management team of AMES GROUP.

The BBT group and the company had previously collaborated in the design of a new product line and the creation of a new division within the group, AMES MEDICAL, in porous materials for applications in the field of biomaterials. With the creation of this Chair, this collaboration is continuing, orienting its activity to the research and selection of advisory bodies in the pharmaceutical field, as well as the analysis of new biomaterials. It also envisages the development and optimization of treatments for biomaterials and advice on innovation processes. Seminars and conferences of scientific dissemination will also be organized.
