On Jan. 29th, 2026, the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) Research Group stepped out of the labs and into the their IX Annual Meeting. Held at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE) in Barcelona, the event brought together 51 members—practically the entire "BBT family"—to reflect on a year of growth and plan for the future.
The day served as a vital gathering for the group in order to celebrate a year defined by high productivity and significant research milestones. It wasn't just about looking back, however; the meeting provided a platform to share the latest updates on both public and private-funded projects, keeping everyone aligned with the group's current research.
Members of the group later engaged in open discussions regarding lab optimization and management, seeking ways to make daily "lab life" smoother and more efficient for everyone. These sessions were balanced by coffee breaks and a group lunch, offering a chance to catch up in a more informal tone.
The highlight of the afternoon was the traditional BBT Tournament. This high-stakes trivia battle tested knowledge on group history, science, and general culture, ranging from art history to cinema and sports. The energy was so high and the scores so close that the official winner remains a mystery! As of today, the debate over the final standings is still echoing through the hallways.
