Short Bio

Milica Živanić, born in 1996 in Belgrade (Serbia), holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Molecular Biotechnology from the Technische Universität München (Germany) and a Joint PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry from Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (Spain) and Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium). She defended her PhD thesis, framed within the ERC Starting Grant APACHE, on „Cold plasma treated hydrogels for multimodal cancer therapies“ in April 2025 with cum laude recognition.

Prior to PhD, she conducted research in Helmholtz Zentrum and Klinikum rechts der Isar in Munich, working on interdisciplinary and collaborative projects, including industry partners Novartis and GSK. Her work focused on synthetic biology and molecular imaging of cell- and viral-based therapies. Currently, she continues her work at UPC on cancer management strategies based on cold plasma and biomaterials, in collaboration with Hospital Clinic Barcelona.

Dr. Milica Živanić is author of multiple papers published in high-impact journals and has been awarded several times for her scientific communication and dissemination activities. Since 2022, she is involved in Unite! European alliance of Technical Universities, first as PhD representative, and later as the Seed Fund Research&PhD Evaluation Board member and the Doctoral Education working group member.
