Researcher Profile at FUTUR

 Short Bio

Dr. Miguel Mateu Sanz (Valencia, 1994) holds a Degree in Biology from the University of Alicante (UA), a Master Degree in Tissue Engineering and Advanced Therapies from the University of Granada (UGR) and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC).

During his Master's stuedies, Miguel Mateu worked in the production of oral mucosal constructs using new techniques of cell expansion using explants and in the biological characterization of artificial corneas. Then, in his predoctoral years, he worked within the project "Atmospheric Pressure plAsma meets biomaterials for bone Cancer HEaling - APACHE", led by Dr. Cristina Canal, where he carried out his thesis focused on the evaluation of reactive species generated by cold atmospheric plasma as anticancer therapy for the treatment of bone cancer. Miguel Mateu has contributed to generate 6 scientific articles (Q1), being first author in 3 of them.

Throughout his career, Miguel Mateu has acquired valuable skills in the culture of cells of primary and carcinogenic lines, in functional and molecular biology techniques and in the production of 3D tissues for use in regenerative medicine or for in vitro cancer modelling. His field of expertise covers the ambit of biomaterials, tissue engineering, bone cancer, oxidative stress and cancer stem cells.

Currently, Miguel Mateu is working on the project "BIOMATDB: Advanced Database for Biomaterials with Data Analysis and Visualisation Tools extended by a Marketplace with Digital Advisors", which aims to develop an advanced database for biomaterials that provides detailed information about their properties and marketplace information.
