Researcher Profile at FUTUR

 Short Bio

Wilmer Pardo is a Colombian scientist born in Bogota. He is a biologist from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and did his master's and PhD in nanotechnology at the Universitat de Barcelona. He is a multidisciplinary and results-oriented researcher specialising in biophysics, biomaterials, and nanotechnology. With over 15 years of research experience, he has contributed to multiple interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and materials science. His expertise spans bacterial cell culture, protein expression and purification, biomaterials, as well as advanced biophysical and spectroscopic characterisation techniques. Will has played a key role in developing electrochemical biosensors, microfabricated devices, and biomaterial-based platforms for biomedical and environmental applications.

Currently, Wilmer is developing injectable biomaterials as novel therapies for wound healing, aiming to harness their therapeutic potential. His work integrates hydrogel chemistry, molecular functionalisation, and soft matter physics to engineer responsive biomaterials.

Beyond research, Wilmer has served as a lab manager and trainer, mentoring junior researchers and overseeing laboratory operations. He has been responsible for equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and interdisciplinary collaborations across multiple institutions.
