Short Bio

Irene Lodoso Torrecilla was born in 1991 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. In 2009 she enrolled in the Engineering School of the University of Navarra (Spain), where she obtained the bachelor´s degree (B.Sc.) in Biomedical Engineering in 2013. She conducted her B.Sc. thesis in the department of Tissue Engineering, where she developed her interest in the biomaterials´ field. To get further knowledge on the field, she enrolled in the master´s degree (M.Sc.) of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands) where she specialized on Medical Device Design and Biomaterials Science. During her master thesis, she worked on the functionalization of Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMVs) with different polymers and studied their viability for cell transfection.

In 2015, she started her PhD degree in the Biomaterials department of Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. There, she worked with calcium phosphate cements and focused on the improvement of their biodegradability and biological properties. In December 2019, she started working as a postdoctoral researcher in the research line of Biomaterials for Bone Regeneration led by Prof. Maria Pau Ginebra, in the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) where she works in 3D printing of calcium phosphates.
