Short Bio:

Eduardo Pérez del Río (Palencia, 1991) is Chemical Engineer from the University of Valladolid (Uva), with a Master's in Biomedical Research (UVa) and a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He currently works as a Postdoc in the Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering (BBT) group, in a project that study to improve current strategies to mimic skin models.

His doctoral thesis entitled '3D Systems for Immune cells culture and their applications in Immunotherapy' relates the design of a new biomaterial, whose physical and mechanical properties were fully characterized, and its application to the culture of immune as a 3D platform that mimics the characteristics of the lymphatic organs. The material resulting from this research was patented due to its demonstrated potential in improving the cellular response obtained in comparison with conventional systems.

During his Master's in biomedical research, he began his research career in the BIOFORGE group (UVa), working with the production, characterization and application of elastin-based polymers, with his Master's thesis entitled 'Synthesis and characterization of new elastin-like recombinant polymers fused to eGFP for the formation of nanoparticles'.
