The BBT hosts Dr. Gloria Gallego Ferrer for a CIBER-BBN research stay
Mar 19, 2026
The researcher from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is collaborating with the BBT on the development of advanced hydrogels for tissue engineering, funded by a CIBER mobility grant.
The BBT is strengthening its scientific collaboration ties by welcoming Dr. Gloria Gallego Ferrer, researcher at Center for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and professor at this same university. This research stay, taking place from March 8th to the 22nd, 2026, has been made possible through funding from a CIBER-BBN MOBILITY grant, designed to foster the exchange of talent and knowledge between centers of excellence.
The visit is part of the intramural project "Biomimetic peptides to engineer cell instructive biomaterials" (PepMAT), coordinated by Dr. Carles Mas Moruno with the active participation of both CIBER-BBN groups. Under the supervision of Dr. Maria Pau Ginebra (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Mas Moruno as tutor, the central objective is to advance the synthesis of hydrogels with antimicrobial potential and cell adhesion capabilities. Specifically, during these two weeks at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE) at UPC, Dr. Gallego Ferrer and the BBT team will work on four key pillars:
- Synthesis Innovation: Learning new synthetic routes for creating functional hydrogels.
- Advanced Characterization: Exchanging protocols and technical expertise for material analysis.
- Bioprinting: Sharing experience in the use of 3D printing technologies applied to hydrogels.
- Future Collaborations: Discussing joint projects to apply the shared technologies in future research.
